Thank God life fell apart. At least I get this second chance. "Make more mistakes more quickly" was the advice in Canadian designer Bruce Mau's 'manifesto' - not currently on the bmd site, that I can see. Born 1961. I'm a committed Buddhist. A committed musician. A sometimes committed loony; the friendly type. I'm very smart. Not very wise. Not very pretty.

    Terri asked if we could quickly do greetings cards for a fundraiser. This was mine. Now, while it IS a depiction of Terri, it must be said that Terri couldn't look ugly if she tried. With no effort at all, she's radiant. Yes, I'm in love with her .... but it's okay, trust me.

New Music from 1998

Only 20 years old - a mere spring chicken, here's - "Hair of the God" 1998 Music by Martin Lomas, words from "The Eye of the Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran as read by Johnny Cash. All of the guitar tracks were created by sampling my own work at half-speed. Why? Serendipity. I had some recordings of mine on cassette tape. These were made on the typical TASCAM PortaStudio unit (see below), which uses the tape at double-speed to improve quality. I wanted to revive them, and so planned to re-record them digitally, double the speed (since I no longer have a double-speed tape deck), and clean them up. But I got stuck at the half-speed stage. Some wonderful new sounds become available.

Tech Talk - (1) A Complaint ... (aka "Think.")

Another ad hoc post. Okay, I don't trust Google . At all. And I also believe them when they say that nothing malevolent is going on. Huh? Yup. Here's why ... To put it succinctly: Just the mere fact that Google is happily enabling us, digitally, to burst into pastures new (technologies unknown), is absolutely reckless. Google have either not thought this through, or something else. Think.  "Think" is a necessary imperative, these days. The irony being, that in the end, there's no reason to think. At all. Sorry, but the closer to reality you get, the more surreal it is. That's how this all works. Please don't ask me what "this" is. I do not presume to know, yet. See? Even I don't know if I'll actually arrive anywhere. However, if the nature of "this" is indeed timeless and infinite, then we'd best get comfortable, nay? Or, as paraphrased by Elvis Costello: "Whats so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?...

This was another attempt to call mostly on the subconscious, and that typically means it's a fiery picture of me ... or is it? I sincerely believe it is also what you perceive. Dear xxxxx , Better than Dear John, I hope anyway. Since this is about me becoming homeless, I don't want Mum to panic, especially if she is fragile herself. So can you judge please - either delete this paragraph and forward to Mum (or ask me to re-send to both), or tell her yourself as and when. Please let me know what you decide! Sorry I have been out of touch. Getting Internet access hasn't been easy for the last week. I thought I would simply use the computer at the local drop-in centre, but it's been consistently very busy, and it's all you can do to scamble for a few of minutes here and there. Plus I'm busy preparing to move out. Unfortunately, I will be homeless as of Saturday 11/3. It's awful news, of course, but it has some logic to it as I'll explain. Another Awesome Day!

The Canadian Federal government, actually it's law-reviewing Senate, yesterday made the big decision: Whether or not to pass the Federal bill that will legalize Cannabis. Well, what they really did - I'M NOT JOKING HERE - stop laughing! -- was to decide to er not decide but rather to put the bill to no less than FIVE committees for, um, review. It's the Canadian Way - we totally depend on all our levels of government to screw everything up. Happily they aways oblige, in this case with the premier weapon of all legal systems everywhere - DELAY. So while all us Cannabis users sort of laugh and try to look interested, the good old black market has been preparing for battle (and they already won). It isn't rocket science. 6 months ago, the following was not possible: Go to your friendly neighborhood  dealer, and ask for Lemon Kush. Or O. G. Kush. Or Rock Star. Its all available at the same price weed has been fr decades - $10.00 per gram - the "dime bag". So...
